  4. All sorts of kings have sat
  5. That men and women of all sorts
  6. proclaimed both good and great;
  7. And what's the odds if such as these
  8. For reason of the State
  9. Should keep their lovers waiting,

  11. Some boast of beggar-kings and kings
  12. Of rascals black and white
  13. That rule because a strong right arm
  14. Puts all men in a fright,
  15. And drunk or sober live at ease
  16. Where none gainsay their right,

  19. The Muse is mute when public men
  20. Applaud a modern throne:
